Leadership Training/Entrenamiento de Líderes

LULAC Youth Leadership Seminar
Leadership Training/Entrenamiento de Líderes

This seminar is not to be confused with the Annual LULAC Youth Conference that includes the volleyball tournament and talent show.  This September we will be starting a new and additional Annual LULAC Youth Leadership Seminar.  It will be taking place on Saturday, September 20th on the UNC Campus.  This seminar is designed to teach our LULAC officers, advisors, and any other new or past LULAC members about the workings of the LULAC organization.  All attendees will learn the important role LULAC has played and is currently playing in our society and country including: LULAC forefathers, historical accomplishments, and its purpose in our community, state, and nation.
They will also learn how to run an organized meeting using Roberts Rules.  Students should be the individuals running each LULAC meeting at the schools and they will walk away from this Seminar with the knowledge and tools to do so.  In order to be a leader one must act like a leader.  This is why students will also be taught the leadership skills on how to plan, organize, speak, stand, and take charge.
After a morning full of workshops that will teach the above skills, students will take a quick lunch before heading to the UNC Ropes Course Challenge.  Here, UNC facilitators present group and individual challenges which create an opportunity for numerous benefits including:

  • Improved communication and cooperation skills
  • Higher levels of trust
  • Greater leadership skills
  • Better group cohesion
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Increased self-awareness and self-confidence
  • Plenty of fun

We hope this seminar teaches our young people the leadership skills that he or she will need when entering college, the work force, military, or other organizations in addition to LULAC.
